(1) Beitou Hot Spring CingShui Park:(北投溫泉親水公園) 

 

This park was completed on Oct. 31, 2009.  In the park, there are Beitou Hot Spring Museum and Beitou Library (which is the first green library in Taiwan).  They both hold an educational perspective of environmental protection.  Just a 5-min walk from the park, you may reach GeothermalValley, KedagalanCultureCenterand other historical sites as well.  This is good for a half-day tour.

Yangmingshan National Park+ZhuZiHu:(陽明山國家公園+竹子湖)

 

YangmingshanNational Parkis famous for its beautiful flower seasons and great sceneries from Feb to Apr, especially the night views of TaipeiCity.  At ZhuZiHu area, you may find natural chickens and vegetables to treat you a great meal.  Good for a half-day tour.

Transportation:

Take bus No. 9 Small or No. 230 for about 30-45 minutes.

Shilin Night Market:(士林夜市)

 

The best place to try Taiwanese delicacies, including Pan-Fried Oyster w/ Egg, Squid Soup, Fried Tampura, Little-Cake-in-Big-Cake, Fried Chicken Breast, Pan-Fried Bun, Bite-size Sausage, etc.  You may also enjoy bargain shopping and Taiwanese style massage.  Great for your night tour.

 

Transportation:

A 20-min MRT ride will take you there from the Hotel.  At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui (Red) Line, exit at JianTan Station.  Shilin Night Market is in about 2-min walking distance.

Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Resident:(士林官邸)

 

Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Resident was the home of the renowned former president Chiang Kai-Shek.  The rose garden and Victoria Chapel are the musts to see.  Free entrance for public.

 

Transportation:

A 20-min MRT ride will take you there from the Hotel.  At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui (Red) Line, exit at Shilin Station.  It takes another 10-min walk to get there.

National Palace Museum:(故宮博物院)

 

One of the top four museums in the world.  It displays world’s greatest and rarest collections of historical documents and traditional Chinese art crafts, including the Jade Nappa.  Souvenir is available.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui (Red) Line, exit at Shilin Station from Exit No. 1.  Transfer onto bus No. R30, 304 or 255 to take you there.

The Martyr’s Shine: (忠烈祠)

 

The shrine was built in 1969 to commemorate the brave soldiers and heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country.  You may watch the honorable duty shift performance of the standing guards every hour from 9am to 4:40pm. 2-3 hours of visit.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station take Danshui (Red) Line, exit at YuanShan Station.  Transfer onto bus No. 287 or 247 to take you there.

TianMu District:(天母商圈)

 

TianMu District has been an ideal residential choice for foreigners for its international features of surroundings.  English afternoon tea shops and a variety of global delicacies enrich the daily life at TianMu.  During baseball season, come join us in the stadium to enjoy the enthusiasm of the Taiwanbaseball fans.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui (Red) Line, exit at ZhiShan Station.  Transfer onto the shuttle bus offered by Shin Kong Mitshukoshi or Dayeh Takashimaya to get there.

Miramar Entertainment Park:(大直美麗華摩天輪)

 

Located in Dazhi, MiramarEntertainmentParkoffers complete fun of shopping and entertainment.  In addition to the shopping mall and the theatre, the tallest Ferris wheel in Taiwanis right here at MiramarEntertainmentPark.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui (Red) Line, exit at JianTan Station.  Transfer onto the shuttle bus offered by MiramarEntertainmentParkto get there.

Danshui Old Street+Danshui Fisherman’s Wharf:(淡水老街+漁人碼頭)

 

Danshui is an old town full of historical sites.  Come join us at Danshui Old Street. Danshui delicacies such as a-ge tofu, fried fish crispy, fish balls, iron-hard preserved eggs, and plum juice, will definitely satisfy the curiosity of your tasting buds.  Along the coast of Danshui Fisherman’s Wharf, you may enjoy the most magnificent sunset views as well as the boat ride to Ba-Li.  Good for a day tour.

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line, exit at Danshui Station.  The MRT rides take about 20-25 minutes.

Taipei 101 (XinYi Commercial District): (台北101.信義商圈)

 

Taipei101, the tallest building in the world, and all the fashion stores/brands have made XinYi Commercial District a hall of fame for visitors.  You may enjoy a full day of fun shopping, fine cuisines, and entertainments here.  Good for a half-day tour.     

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line to TaipeiCity Hall.  The MRT rides take about 45 minutes.  Then, Taipei101 is just a 10-min walking distance away.

Wufenpu District:(五分埔平價商圈)

 

Wufenpu is the shopping paradise where you will find thousands of imported, however inexpensive, items.  If you are craving for bargaining shopping, here is the place.  Good for a half-day tour.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line to Houshanpi Station.  The MRT rides take about 45 minutes.  Then, Wufenpu is just a 5-min walking distance away.

Rouhe St. Night Market: (饒河夜市)

 

Enjoy more Taiwanlocal foods and shopping here at Rouhe St. Night Market.  Pepper Bun, Dongshan Duck Head, Chinese Herb Flavor Pork Rib Soup, Tofu Jello, Shaved Ice….. you name it.  Good for night time tour.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take train to Sungshan Train Station.  The MRT rides take about 45 minutes.  Then, Rouhe St. Night Market is just a 3-min walking distance away.

National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall: (國父紀念館)

 

It was built in memory of the national founding father of the Republic of China, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen and the building was completed in 1972.  The Hall features historical reviews and documents for both educational and cultural perspectives.  You may also have the chance to observe the performance of the duty shift of the guards.  Good for a half-day tour.

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line to National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Station.  The MRT rides take about 40 minutes.

Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall: (中正紀念堂)

 

It was built for commemorating President Chiang Kai-Shek and completed in 1987.  The architecture is covered with blue glass tiles along with white marble walls to symbolize the spirit of independence and equality.  In addition to the statue of Mr. Chiang Kai-Shek in the main hall and the exhibit halls throughout, the Memorial Hall also features a National Theater and a National Concert Hall which have hosted numerous world-class performances and gatherings.  Good for a half-day tour.

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall Station.  The MRT rides take about 35 minutes.

Pacific Sogo/Zhongxiao East Rd.Shopping District: (忠孝東路.SOGO商圈)

 

This is the most prosperous area in the City of Taipei.  No matter young fashion, luxury imports, or gourmet cuisines/local tastes, the three Pacific Sogo Department buildings serve your needs without any disappointment.  The famous Dingtaifong restaurant re-generates your energy for more shopping.  Good for a half-day tour.

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line and exit at the Zhongxiao-Fuxing Station.  The MRT rides take about 35 minutes.  Then, the shopping district is just a 2-min walking distance away.

Ximending: (西門町)

 

If you are craving for Japanese style young fashion, Ximending is here for you.  All the trendy fancy jewels and clothing let you shop till you drop.  This shopping district has been the top attraction visited by the tourists.

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line and exit at the Ximen Station.  The MRT rides take about 30 minutes.

LongshanTemple+Hwaxi St. Night Market: (龍山寺.華西街觀光夜市)

 

LongshanTemplewas built in the 18th century and is one of the oldest and largest temples in Taiwan.  The Guanyin God in the temple has long been worshipped by local residents.  Hwaxi St. Night Market stands out from other night markets in Taiwanfor its snake feature.  In addition to snake foods, you may also find traditional Taiwanese flavors and bargain shopping.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line and exit at the Longshan Station.  The MRT rides take about 45 minutes.  It’ll take another 10-min walk to get there.

Gongguan Shopping District (National Taiwan University): (公館商圈.台灣大學)

 

Gongguan shopping district has long been the favorite of students for its convenient location closed to the NationalTaiwanUniversityand the NationalNormalUniversityin Taipei.  Local delicacies, such as Onion Cake, Wheel Cake, Oyster Noodles, and Tempura, and all varieties of fashion and accessories easily fill up your day in Gongguan.  Good for a late afternoon or night time tour.

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take Xindian(Green) Line and exit at the Gongguan Station.  The MRT rides take about 40 minutes.

Guanghwa Market: (光華商場)

 

Similar to Akihabara in Japan, Guanghwa Market is the largest 3Cmarket in Taiwan.  At Guanghwa, you are able to find a full array of computer software and hardware products at competitive prices.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line and exit at the Zhongxiao-Xinsheng Station.  The MRT rides take about 35 minutes.  Then, the Guanghwa Market building is just a 2-min walking distance away.

Muzha Zoo+Moukong Cable Car: (木柵動物園.貓空纜車)

 

At Muzha Zoo, you will have the chance to get in touch with the Chinapanda, Australiakoala bear, and various other precious animals from the world.  Tickets: adult TWD60; child TWD30.  Moukong Cable Car is currently unavailable.  Further notice will be posted once available.

 

Transportation:

At MRT New Beitou Station, take MRT to Beitou Station to take Danshui(Red) Line to Taipei Train Station.  At Taipei Train Station, take BanNan(Blue) Line and exit at the Zhongxiao-Fuxing Station.  At Zhongxiao-Fuxing Station, take Muzha(Brown) Line and exit at Muzha Zoo station.  The MRT rides take about 45-50 minutes.
